Champion Speed Shop race team was started in 1958 by the NHRA Hall of Fame inductee Jim McLennan. Today the legacy goes on in a nostalgia top fuel front engine dragster.

Champion Speed Shop  2020

We are extremely excited to introduce our new Murf McKinney race car 2020. The car design is patterned after yesteryears full bodied marvels.  The all-aluminum body was fabricated by Andrick Albor from the Roy Brizio Street Rods stable, truly a piece of art.  To lighten things up we are forming a carbon fiber replica of the existing aluminum panels, this is being done by Finish-line composites in Benicia California.  The power plant will be the same Champion Speed Shop Chevrolet that produced the quickest E.T. in small block history, 5.62 seconds.  Tony Bernardini will continue to head up the Crew Chief duties along with his seasoned Champion Crew listed below.  We look forward to spending the 2020 season getting ready for 2021. Our testing so far this year has showed promising results, each session gets better and better says Adam Sorkin our ace pilot.  We will post pictures on a limited basis of our testing, we will be testing the car with our special shorty body till we get all the bugs out of the new pipe.

Thank you

The McLennan Family
